Volunteer Duties

Lower Mainland Charities Association (LMCA)

at Boardwalk Gaming Centre – Highgate Mall


Duties for Volunteers:

Volunteers need to:

  • sign in when they arrive and out when they leave

  • introduce themselves to bingo hall manager when they arrive

  • wear the provided VOLUNTEER name tag

  • wear the LMCA charity representative Aprons, located in the office near the volunteer sign in desk

  • ask the manager if there is something in particular he/she would like done

  • have your charity's information brochures on hand (generally stored in the 'charity’ booth).

  • Display any additional charity literature at the booth.

  • Keep the charity booth tidy and inform your charity representative when you brochure stock is running low

  • When appropriate, during bingo breaks, talk to players about your organization (if you are comfortable doing so).

  • be familiar with the work of your charity and be prepared to talk about it and answer questions from players (only when convenient for players – in between or before games)

  • help players when necessary, for example those who are in wheelchairs or have a walker may want coffee or food. Make their stay at the hall more comfortable

  • you are NOT required to clean up the smoking area, however, the players appreciate the volunteers who clean up the old paper and occasionally empty ash trays

  • be willing to answer questions or locate a staff member to assist the patrons

  • during special events at the hall assist with decorations and extra activities


Volunteers must be at the hall for 4 hours on their charity’s designated day. Any four hours during the day that is convenient to you is acceptable.

The daily bingo schedule is:

* Doors open at 10:00 am

* First session 11:00 am – 2:15 pm, with a break at 12:00 pm

* Second session 2:30 pm – 5:45 pm, with a break at 4:00 pm

* Third session 6:30 pm – 9:45 pm, with a break at 8:15 pm

* Late night session begins at approximately at 10:00 pm
